WILMINGTON — Ohio blues-rock act The Black Keys announced their 2025 No Rain No Flowers Tour and will be making a stop in the Port City this June.
Tickets go on sale to the June 11 concert on Friday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. The announcement comes after the band canceled its intimate venues tour, International Players, last year; the cancellations were due to management changes in the band.
The 13-city tour takes place in May and June only and kicks off in Oklahoma on May 23, concluding June 14 in New Jersey before they embark on a European trek. The band is playing both Wilmington and Raleigh in North Carolina on June 11-12. The Heavy Heavy will also perform in support of the band.
The Black Keys, made up childhood friends Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, were founded in 2001. Their popular garage-rock, low-fi sound has its roots planted in blues, embracing Auerbach’s love for artists like R.L. Burnside, Howlin’ Wolf, and Robert Johnson.
The band has released a dozen albums, including the lauded 2008 Danger Mouse-produced release “Attack & Release,” consisting of some of their most popular tracks like “I Got Mine” and “Psychotic Girl.” The album hit number 14 on the Billboard 200 and is ranked 83rd on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest albums of the 2000s.
It wasn’t until 2013 the band won their first of five Grammy Awards for their 2010 release, “Brothers,” including Best Alternative Rock Album and Best Performance by a Rock Duo for the track “Tighten Up.” The band has also won Grammy Awards for 2013’s “El Camino.”
The band released their latest album, “Ohio Players,” in April 2024.
The Heavy Heavy is a two-piece UK band, made up of Georgie Fuller and William Turner. They group has opened for the Black Pumas and Band of Horses and perform a throwback to Sixties rock, drawing comparisons to Jefferson Airplane, The Band, and The Mamas & The Papas.
