Ozempic and Wegovy are being linked to surprising impacts on overall health.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Ozempic and Wegovy are being linked to surprising effects on overall health.

A new study finds these drugs may improve heart health, reduce infections, lower substance abuse risks, and even decrease the chance of dementia.

But they also come with risks, including digestive issues, joint pain, and rare cases of dangerous inflammation.

The drugs work by mimicking a gut hormone that suppresses hunger, but their impact goes beyond weight loss.

Scientists believe the drugs could reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s and curb addictions like alcohol and tobacco use.

More research is needed to fully understand the long-term effects of these drugs, but this study opens new doors for treating various health conditions.
