The FBI has launched a Digital Media Tip Line for the Bourbon Street attack investigation. Submit information, photos, or videos to assist in solving the case.
NEW ORLEANS — The FBI released surveillance images on Thursday, showing the suspect in the Bourbon Street terror attack placing an IED in New Orleans.
The FBI released the image in hopes of getting more information from the public to help piece together the steps Shamsud-Din Jabbar took in the days before the Bourbon Street attack that killed 14 people and injured at least 35 others. Two police officers wounded in a shootout with the suspect were in stable condition.
The FBI created a new Digital Media Tipline where the public can report information about Jabbar.
Authorities have established a Digital Media Tipline for anyone with information, photos, or video footage of the incident, Jabbar, or the two IED-containing coolers. Submissions can be made at www.fbi.gov/bourbonstreetattack.
The web page includes new photos of Jabbar captured in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, along with a photo of one of the ice chests placed on Bourbon Street that contained an Improvised Explosive Device.
Surveillance footage captured at 2:03 a.m. CST shows Jabbar walking along Dauphine Street near Governor Nicholls Street. He is seen wearing a light brown long coat, a dark-colored button-down shirt, blue jeans, and brown dress shoes.
Police said Jabbar steered around a police blockade and raced through a crowd along Bourbon Street around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday as revelers gathered to celebrate the new year.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI’s toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). Tips can also be submitted online at tips.fbi.gov, or by contacting a local FBI office.
