An Innocent Abroad: Ken’s Visit to the International Planetarium Society Conference in Berlin, GDR

Share

You will recall from our previous posts entitled “An Innocent Abroad” that our friend and planetarian, Ken Brandt, previously traveled to Italy, where he lectured and learned at the University where Galileo once reigned supreme. We were fortunate enough to share in Ken’s travels and to see what he was learning, what he was teaching, and how the process differs here in the U.S. If you are an educator, there is great value in seeing how others do the things that you do everyday. There is great value to all in knowing that scientific collaboration often occurs across borders, even when collaboration right here at home seems challenging at times.

Well, Ken has been traveling again, and we have another wonderful opportunity to see how scientific collaboration is occurring with our European planetarian friends – this time in Germany at the International Planetarium Society Conference. Let’s follow Ken on this adventure to see what science education information is coming from the IPS, how it is affecting planetary science education at home, and how Berlin, Germany is ripe with history and science, architecture and engineering – incredible feats at every turn.

And it’s worth remembering that having the ability to put so many wonderful facets to a story provides real context for our lives. We appreciate Ken sharing science through a bigger lens.
