PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s a long weekend for a lot of people as we charge into the Labor Day holiday!
Travel today will be smooth for the morning hours, but we are expecting scattered showers and thunderstorms any time after the lunch hour.
The chance of rain is 50% and for the most part, storms will develop and fizzle out over the same areas.
As a result, some communities may have rainfall totals between 1/2″ to 3/4″ while others will have nothing in the rain gauge.
This activity will continue into the evening, then quiet down overnight.
Highs today are forecast to be near 90° and lows will be near 70°.
Over the weekend, an approaching cold front is going to continue to bring in a threat of rain. It will only be a 30% chance on Saturday, but we’ll have a 90% chance on Sunday. \
Total rainfall is expected to be up to 1-1/2″.
The highs are going to be in the upper-80s on both days.
Labor Day is looking great, as the humidity begins to drop! We’ll have partly cloudy skies and low chances of rain. Highs are going to reach the mid-80s.
As we head back to work on Tuesday, we’ll have a cool, refreshing airmass over the Piedmont. Highs will be in the upper 70s on Tuesday, then mid-70s on Wednesday and Thursday.
We’ll keep additional rain out of the forecast until Thursday afternoon when there will be a 40% chance of showers.
