'Across the Spider-Verse,' Stomp, 'Rudolph' part of Wilson Center's new series

WILMINGTON — The lineup for the new series launching at CFCC’s arts and humanities venue has been announced.

Wilson Center’s new Family Series includes a six-show lineup from fall 2024 through spring 2025. Music, acrobats, dance and more are featured for all audience ages.

Tickets are on sale now here or by calling the box office at (910) 362-7999 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students received $15 tickets — taxes and fees included — for all shows, applicable to any seat in the house.

Shows in the series include:

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Concert
Sept. 18, 7 p.m.

The live show follows the Oscar-winning animated “Spider-Man,” featuring orchestral and electronic music, performed live by an orchestra, skilled scratch DJ, percussion, and electronic instrumentalists. 

Encanto Sing-Along
Oct. 18, 7 p.m.

Another film with a chart-topping soundtrack is coming to life this fall with “Encanto: Sing-Along.” A live band, Banda de la Casita, will perform live while the animated film screens. Fans are encouraged to dress up as favorite characters and sing-along to popular songs like “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure.”

Omnium Circus
Oct. 25, 7 p.m.

Diversity, empathy and fun is at the center of Omnium Circus, with all-ability performers bringing jaw-dropping entertainment to fans. There are basketball players on unicycles, acrobatics of all levels, tightrope spinners, and more.

STOMP
Nov. 2, 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The international percussive theater troupe will take the Wilson Center stage for two shows this November. What began as a street performance in the UK has grown into a global phenomenon. Artists in Stomp use paint cans, garbage can lids, and shopping carts to create rhythms and perform acrobatics and pantomime.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical
Nov. 16, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Love Rankin-Bass’ 1964 stop-motion holiday classic? Well, this show is for you. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” musical has produced more than 600 performances, bringing to life all of the show’s favorite characters — Hermey the Elf, Yukon Cornelius, and the Abominable Snow Monster to help Santa save Christmas. The show includes nostalgic set design, projections, costumes, and characters.

Champions of Magic
March 7, 4 p.m. • March 8, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Magic lovers will be thrilled by this explosive show featuring mind-bending illusions. The show is a combination of humor and magic.
