WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — NASCAR is coming to Bowman Gray Stadium in February, and the top drivers of the sport are excited about it.

The Clash at Bowman Gray will kick off the 2025 NASCAR season on February 2nd, a non-points, exhibition race, showcasing NASCAR’s best talent.

Several drivers chatted with FOX8 Saturday at Darlington Speedway about the idea of racing at Bowman Gray Stadium. They all say they love the energy of the history quarter mile that holds the distinction of being NASCAR’s first paved track and where Richard Petty got his 100th win.

These days, it is NASCAR’s longest weekly racing venue and is known for the rock ’em, sock ’em style of racing you can expect on such a small, tight track. But if you think the drivers are wild, take a look up into the grandstands for the real show; arms waving, fingers flying, double-fisted expletives everywhere.

Kyle Larson said the energy of the crowd is like no other and he hopes he gets to experience them flipping him the bird.

Kyle Busch plans on enlisting the help of a driver coach, 11-time stadium modified champion, Burt Myers.

Daniel Suarez has a funny memory of racing at BGS in a K&N Series Race back in 2012 where he crashed and his seat belts hurt his “best friends” – if you know what he means – but he came back and finished 9th and 2nd the next 2 years.

Tyler Reddick said jokingly the crowd may not like the Cup Style race…but we think he’s being facetious.

The drivers all agree. There’s no place like The Madhouse, the nickname that is well earned by Bowman Gray.
