ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — Orange County deputies have arrested another person in connection to a convicted killer who escaped custody in mid-August.

Monique Brady, 43, the convict’s sister, was arrested and charged with felonious aiding and abetting a fugitive and harboring an escapee.

Brady is being held under a $30,000 secured bond.

You may remember, Ramone Jamarr Alston escaped custody on Aug. 13 while being transported for medical care.

Deputies found Alston in a hotel in Kannapolis on Friday, Aug. 16.

He was serving a life sentence for shooting into a Chapel Hill home where a bullet hit and killed a one-year-old on Christmas Day in 2015.

Alston will also face charges related to the escape.

Deputies also arrested his female acquaintance from Alamance County, 32-year-old Jacobia Crisp. She is charged with felony aiding and abetting a fugitive.

More arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
