WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to announce her running mate soon.
Harris and her VP pick are set to hit the campaign trail together on Tuesday.
This is the biggest decision Vice President Harris will make in the two weeks since her presidential campaign began.
Her team says she is looking for a governing partner.
All eyes were on the vice president’s residence over the weekend as cars went in and out.
She met with some of her top running mate contenders including Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.
“She has so many talented people to choose from,” said Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.).
Pennsylvania Democratic Congresswoman Madeleine Dean is pushing for her home state governor.
Former president Donald Trump is still facing pushback on comments he made about Harris’s race at the National Association of Black Journalist convention.
California Democratic Senator Laphonza Butler had this to say about Trump’s comments.
“An absolute distraction. It is an insult. It is despicable,” said Butler.
Florida Congressman Byron Donalds calls it a phony controversy.
“I don’t really care. Most people don’t,” said Donalds.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton says this is a race that will be won on the issues.
“What a disaster Kamala Harris would be as president. She is a dangerous San Francisco liberal,” said Cotton.
Vice President Harris and her running mate will campaign together on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
