Owner of Burlington contracting business faces fraud charges

Alamance County deputies said the suspect was paid more than $100,000 for renovations that were never completed.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — An Alamance County man was arrested on Aug. 2 on charges related to fraud.

Detectives said both the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office and the Burlington Police Department received reports of fraudulent activity by Danny Chapman Lynch of Burlington.

The victim identified Lynch as the owner of DBA BIT’s Builder, a contracting company that was hired to renovate a home in southern Alamance County.

The victim said they’d signed a contract with Lynch in 2022 to complete the renovation work, but it was never completed. According to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Lynch was paid $161,757 to do the renovation.

Deputies from Alamance County arrested him, but it was later discovered that the Burlington Police Department received similar reports about Lynch’s business. 

  • One count of felony obtain property by false pretense (Alamance County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Two counts of felony obtain property by false pretense (Burlington Police Department)

Lynch was given a secure bond of $150,000. His first appearance is set for Aug. 5.
