
WILMINGTON — The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College will welcome two sou acts live in Wilmington this fall.
For 57 years, Tower of Power has toured their funk classics and “Oakland soul” across the country and is now bringing their signature sound live to CFCC’s Wilson Center. Plus, blues icon and rock ‘n’ roll legend, Robert Cray will perform his hits live in concert.
Tower of Power
Sept. 10, 2025, at 7 p.m.
For 57 years, Tower of Power has delivered funk and soul music, long since surpassing co-founder Emilio Castillo’s aspirations of traveling the world, producing hit singles, and backing legendary artists such as Otis Redding, Elton John, Santana, the Grateful Dead, John Lee Hooker and Aerosmith.
From their Warner Brothers record debut, “Bump City,” they’ve been recognized as a hit artist on both the Billboard 200 and the R&B Albums chart, and netted hits like “You’re Still A Young Man,” “Down to The Nightclub,” “So Very Hard to Go and What Is Hip?”
The Robert Cray Band
Sept. 18, 2025, at 7 p.m.
Blues icon. Soul man. Rock and roller. Robert Cray has sold millions of albums and countless concert tickets, won five Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, received the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award, and designed two signature model Fender guitars.
Across five decades, Cray has created a richly inclusive treasure of American music, including songs like “(Won’t Be) Coming Home,” “Right Next Door,” and “T-Bone Shuffle.”
Tickets to both shows will be available online to Wilson Center Members on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the public online and in person on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10 a.m.
