PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a 40% chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms today, and we have a Level 1/Marginal Risk of a few storms producing warnings.

The main threats will be from damaging winds and large hail. Thunderstorms are most likely in the mid-afternoon, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Highs will be in the mid-70s.

Mostly cloudy skies are ahead for tonight with lows in the lower-60s. There is a 20% chance of isolated showers.

Starting tomorrow, temperatures are going to warm up and rain chances will drop below 20%.  We are expecting partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-80s Thursday through Saturday.

Aside from the warm temperatures, the humidity will also be uncomfortably high. That mugginess lingers into Saturday until a cold front comes through, lowering dew points from 67° (very humid) to 58° (refreshing). Sunday’s highs will be in the lower-80s with partly cloudy skies.

The more comfortable weather stays put for the first days of the work week ahead. We will have mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies Monday and Tuesday. Highs will stay in the lower-80s.
