PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Skies remain cloudy Sunday evening with temperatures in the 60s heading into the overnight hours.
Rain starts to move in from the south into the very early morning hours on Monday with widespread rainfall likely by 6 AM. Once the rain starts on Monday morning, it’s going to be hard to find dry time as several rounds of rainfall will continuously move in throughout the day. Temperatures will likely remain in the 60s most of the day.
Flood watches are in effect for the entire Piedmont Triad until 2 p.m. Tuesday as widespread rainfall kicks off our work week. While Monday will likely be the wettest day of the week, decent rain chances linger in the forecast through the middle of the week.
Scattered showers and even isolated storms will be possible on Tuesday as our weather maker slowly makes its way further north. As of now, rain chances look lower in the morning and higher in the afternoon and evening on Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 60s Tuesday morning with highs in the mid 70s.
Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast on Wednesday but we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds for the middle portion of the week. Temperatures start in the low 60s in the morning with highs in the mid-70s. The chance for rain/storms on Wednesday is 60%.
Our rainy weather maker moves north and east of us by Thursday which will allow us to try and start drying out, at least for a little bit, and our temperatures will increase for the second half of the week. We’ll wake up Thursday in the low 60s with highs in the mid 80s. Skies will be partly cloudy and a stray storm can’t be entirely ruled out. The chance for rain is 20%.
We get even warmer on Friday with morning lows in the mid 60s and highs in the upper 80s. Skies will remain partly cloudy with a stray storm still possible. The chance for rain is 20%.
Partly cloudy skies stick around for the weekend with morning lows Saturday in the upper 60s and highs in the mid 80s. An isolated storm will be possible on Saturday as a cold front pushes through. The chance for rain Saturday is 30%.
We’ll remain mainly dry on Sunday with morning lows in the low to mid-60s and highs in the low to mid-80s. Skies will be partly cloudy with a 20% chance of a lingering stray shower.
