'Suspicious property' found near Charlotte day care deemed safe, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Multiple buildings were evacuated after a suspicious package was found near an east Charlotte day care, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

The incident happened around 11 a.m. at the Learning Tree Academy, which is near the intersection of Albemarle Road and North Sharon Amith. CMPD said nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution. CMPD said its officers were able to determine the item was not dangerous and all precautionary measures were lifted by 11:45 a.m. 

A section of Albemarle Road near the area where the item was found was closed for the investigation. It has since reopened.
