At least six minor burn injuries were reported and 51 reports say the lithium-ion battery overheated, expanded or caught fire while users were charging their phones.
SAN FRANCISCO — Nearly half a million Casely portable chargers are being recalled after multiple reports of burn injuries.
The recall began Wednesday and encompasses Casely Power Pods 5000mAh portable MagSafe wireless phone charger with model number E33A, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The total of impacted units comes out to roughly 429,200.
The notice says the lithium-ion battery in the recalled power banks can “overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.” At least 6 minor burn injuries have been reported and 51 other reports say the lithium-ion battery overheated, expanded or caught fire while users were charging their phones.
These pocket-sized chargers were sold online for roughly $30 to $70 and were made between March 2022 and September 2024, according to the notice. The impacted units were sold in multiple colors and prints but have “Casely” engraved on the front. Model number E33A can be found on the back.
Owners of the recalled device are encouraged to stop using them immediately and contact Casely for a free replacement. Click here to initiate the replacement for your recalled unit.
The products were made in China and sold by Casely Inc., from Brookyln, New York.
