CMPD reports the stolen package, consisting of clothes and shoes, were valued at $500.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte resident is shocked to see a package she ordered was stolen right from her front porch and the incident was captured on camera.

Viola Currie lives in south Charlotte. Currie told WCNC Charlotte’s Myles Harris on July 29,  she had a package delivered to her home. But when she came home, the package was gone.

“It was only about an hour after it got delivered,” Currie said. “I came home looking for my package … I was like, ‘Where’s my package?’”

Viola didn’t recognize the porch pirate and said the incident happened in broad daylight.

“This dude that I’ve never seen before just took it and just casually just walked off with it,” she added.

The good news for Currie is CMPD did recognize the suspect.

“I put in an incident report. They called me back and they said they caught him. He was supposedly stealing out of the store. And they recognized them. So they caught him,” she said.

She doesn’t think she’ll be getting her pink bag back anytime soon, but she plans to use delivery services differently moving forward. “I probably won’t leave my packages out anymore. Like as soon as they either get them delivered … to a local post office or as soon as it comes or just sign off for it just to avoid this” She added.
