PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) ā A cold front sagged south of the Piedmont overnight, and we will have slightly cooler temperatures for today.Ā
We are starting with mostly clear skies this morning, and it will stay mostly sunny through the lunch hour. By afternoon, scattered clouds develop and highs will be in the lower-70s.

Pollen counts remain in the HIGH category today, primarily from tree pollen. Clouds overtake our skies tonight and lows will be mild, in the lower-50s.

Though we are expecting cloudier conditions on Saturday, rain chances remain quite low. Temperatures are going to return to the mid-70s Saturday afternoon.
A powerful cold front is forecast to bring a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday morning.

There is a Level 2/Slight Risk of severe weather with the primary threat being damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
The line of storms will affect the western and central mountains in the very early morning, between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. The chance of severe weather along the northern Blue Ridge will be between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Storms may rumble across the Piedmont between 7 a.m. along Interstate 77 and 11 a.m. on the east side of the Triad).

By Sunday afternoon, the cold front will be moving east of the Triad. We may have partly cloudy skies to enjoy with a few stray, leftover showers. Highs will be near 70Ā°.
Sunnier skies are ahead for Monday and Tuesday as high pressure takes over the southeastern U.S. Initially, highs will be cooler and closer to normal, near 60Ā°, on Monday afternoon, then highs return to the lower-70s Tuesday afternoon.
There will be a dramatic warm-up on Wednesday as highs soar back into the upper-70s ahead of the next system. We will have partly cloudy skies on Wednesday, then increasing clouds on Thursday. There is a 30% chance of showers Thursday afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west.
