(WGHP) — There is an Increased Fire Danger for the FOX8 viewing area today due to low humidity and warm temperatures. Please avoid starting any fires outdoors.

If you enjoy warm, sunny weather, you’ll love the outlook for today! Soak in mostly sunny skies with highs near 80 this afternoon. Tree pollen is in the high category with grass pollen now starting to show up with low levels. Some scattered clouds are forecast to nip our northern counties later in the afternoon, then more clouds are expected to build up overnight. Lows will be mild as a result, dipping into the upper 40s.

We will have mostly cloudy skies on Thursday with highs in the mid-70s. A cold front is forecast to drop southward across the state Thursday night, ushering in slightly cooler air on Friday. Highs will be in the lower 70s on Friday under partly cloudy skies.

A powerful storm will be churning across the country, bringing a severe weather threat to the Carolinas this weekend. Saturday is expected to be cloudy with highs in the mid-70s. The chance of rain is only 20% during the day but will increase to 60% on Saturday night.

By the second half of the weekend, we will have double-barrel cold fronts headed our way. Ahead of the fronts, temperatures will warm to the lower 70s Sunday afternoon, but there is a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some storms may be strong to severe.

Behind the fronts, temperatures are going to take a dive as we begin the new work week. We’ll have mostly sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday. While highs on Monday will be much chillier, in the upper 50s, warmer conditions are on the way for midweek and Tuesday’s highs will rise to the upper 60s.
