PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — An area of low pressure is located just offshore NC, bringing showers and a few thunderstorms to the beaches this morning. Here in the Piedmont, skies have been rather clear this morning. The low will continue to move eastward, into the Atlantic, and that will leave us with sunny skies today. Highs will warm up nicely, to the mid-70s. Â
Low temperatures overnight will cool down to the mid-40s under clear skies.
More sunshine is on the way for Wednesday, and it will be even warmer. Highs are expected to be near 80°.
A cold front to our north will settle southward across North Carolina on Thursday. We are expecting mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-70s. Partly sunny conditions return on Friday with highs staying in the lower-to-mid-70s.
Get your umbrella out for the weekend! Saturday is forecast to be cloudy with scattered showers in the Piedmont. Despite the 30% chance of rain, highs will be in the lower-70s. A powerful cold front will barrel into the Carolinas on Sunday, bringing an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures remain mild, near 70°, Sunday afternoon.Â

As the new work week begins, we are expecting cooler weather with highs in the lower-60s. Enjoy drier weather on Monday with partly sunny skies.
