Showers early Thursday afternoon in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front will sweep across the Piedmont today, bringing a 40% chance of showers by early afternoon. Ahead of the front, a pleasant, southwest breeze will push temperatures into the upper-60s. Any showers that develop will be fairly light, bringing less than 0.20 inches to area rain gauges.

As the cold front moves eastward, our skies will clear out nicely.  Lows are going to be chilly, in the upper-30s.

We will have beautiful weather to enjoy on Friday, with sunny skies and highs in the lower-60s.  Saturday, another cold front will be marching toward the Appalachians and that will once again bring our highs into the upper-60s.

Once the weekend cold front works its way east of the Triad, we will experience a sharp drop in temperatures.  Sunday highs will only be in the upper-40s and Monday highs will be in the lower-50s. The good news is that high pressure will really dominate those first two days of the new week, so we will at least have mostly sunny skies to enjoy.

Another system is forecast to work its way across the Carolinas on Wednesday, bringing a 60% chance of rain and bringing highs back to the upper-60s.
