PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A few showers and thunderstorms marched across our northern counties overnight. For the rest of the morning, a few stray showers are all we will deal with.Â
The chance of rain is 20%. By lunchtime, we’ll see peeks of sunshine, and we’re expecting partly cloudy skies by this afternoon. High temperatures will get a nice boost from the sunshine, rising to the mid-60s.
A cold front is forecast to drop southward, through the Piedmont, tonight. There will be a 50% chance of showers overnight with lows in the lower-50s.
We’re expecting more sunshine Friday so that should offset any cooler air that settles into the Piedmont. Highs will be in the upper-60s under partly cloudy skies. Â
High pressure in New England will pump cooler air on Saturday, and also bring clouds back for the first half of the weekend. Highs are going to be in the lower-50s. We will return to partly cloudy skies on Sunday, and highs are going to be delightful, in the mid-60s.
Be prepared for colder, wetter weather as the new work week begins. Highs will be well below normal Monday through Wednesday, in the mid-40s and upper-30s. Scattered showers pop up in the forecast for Monday (the chance of rain is 40%), and then a steady, cold rain takes over Tuesday and Wednesday.
