Deadline extended for Helene diaster unemployment in NC

Workers whose jobs were impacted by the deadly storm now have until March 10 to file for unemployment. 

Disaster Unemployment Assistance is available in the following North Carolina counties: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Forsyth, Gaston, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Iredell, Jackson, Lee, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Nash, Polk, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, Surry, Swain, Transylvania, Union, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin and Yancey, as well as the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. 

To get benefits, workers must submit all required documentation within 21 days after applying. Applications can be filed online. Click here for more information.
