Another cold, cold day in the Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — Snow is moving offshore this morning, and the back edge of clouds is moving across the Piedmont from west-to-east.

With clearing skies, we are expecting a cold, sunny morning. Please use caution if you have to be on the roads, especially on untreated, neighborhood roads. The powdery layer of snow may become compacted to an icy layer which can be dangerous. Highs will stay below freezing again today, reaching the upper 20s this afternoon.

Tonight, we will have mostly clear skies in the evening, then increasing clouds near daybreak.  Lows will be around 13.

Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy with temperatures finally rising to 33 by 2 p.m., and eventually reaching 36 for the daytime high.

Temperatures will be steadily warming over the rest of the 7-day period. We’ll have mostly sunny skies Friday and Saturday, despite a cold front coming through. Highs on Friday will be near 40, and Saturday brings highs in the mid-40s.

By Sunday and Monday, another system is forecast to approach from the west. This will push temperatures into the upper 40s and also bring a 25% chance of stray showers. The low is expected to creep eastward along the NC/SC line on Tuesday. Still, our highs will continue to get milder, reaching the lower 50s Tuesday afternoon.
