2 arrested and charged in connection with breaking and entering in progress in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Two people have been arrested and charged in connection to a reported breaking and entering in progress in Thomasville.

On Dec. 23, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Post Road in Thomasville. When deputies arrived, the resident confirmed the address and said he was not aware of a break-in. 

While deputies were checking with other individuals at the home, illegal drugs were found and two people were arrested for possession of the substances. 

They initially gave false names to deputies but were later identified as Joseph David Peace, 39, and Savannah Ellyn McLeod, 30. 

Deputies also found a wallet that contained cards not associated with either person. Deputies said the owner of the social security card was contacted and wanted to pursue charges. 

Both Peace and McLeod were taken to the Randolph County Detention Center. 

Peace was charged with the following: 

• Felony possession of methamphetamine
• Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
• Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
• Misdemeanor larceny
• Misdemeanor resisting a public officer

Peace was not issued a bond because he was already out on pre-trial release. He was also served with four outstanding arrest orders, two in Randolph and three in Guilford, for failure to appear. He was issued a $86,000 total secured bond for those, according to deputies. 

McLeod was charged with the following: 

• Felony possession of methamphetamine
• Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
• Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
• Misdemeanor resisting a public officer

She was not issued a bond because she was also out on pre-trial release.

Deputies said a first appearance has been set for Dec. 27 in the Randolph County District Court.
