COLUMBIA, S.C. — FEMA wants to remind residents of South Carolina that the deadline to apply for federal assistance with sustained damages or losses due to Hurricane Helene is fast approaching.
If you are a homeowner or renter in one of the following counties — Abbeville, Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Hampton, Jasper, Kershaw, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York counties and the Catawba Indian Nation — you have until January 7, 2025, to apply for federal assistance.

Assistance may be available for the following needs: home repair, temporary housing, or property damage (appliances, furniture, vehicle, etc.), child care, medical, moving and funeral expenses caused by Hurricane Helene.
