Reginald Lashawn Harrison, 22, now faces a trio of charges tied to the death of Nasir Quron Boyd.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives say a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in north Charlotte earlier this year is now in custody.

On Thursday, Dec. 19, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced that 22-year-old Reginald Lashawn Harrison had turned himself into the Gaston County Jail and was interviewed by detectives. He will be transferred to Mecklenburg County to be charged with 1st degree murder, discharge of a firearm into a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

CMPD said officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on Tanager Park Drive around 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Nasir Quron Boyd suffering from a gunshot wound in a car. Boyd was taken to the hospital where he died.

A CMPD spokesperson said the shooting appeared to be drug-related based on evidence gathered at the scene.

“We’re talking about the loss of life,” the CMPD spokesperson said. “Our ability to bring justice to that victim, to that victim’s family. Each individual is a human being who has brothers, who has sisters, who has friends.”

CMPD identified Harrison, who was 21 years old at the time, as a suspect in the case on May 20, 2024. The department requested information on his whereabouts and labeled him as armed and dangerous.

While an arrest has been made, the investigation is still active and ongoing. Anyone with information can call (704) 432-TIPS to talk with a homicide unit detective. CrimeStoppers also accepts tips via phone at (704) 334-1600 or online.
