Arrest made more than a month after Charlotte man killed

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because of the nature of the charge.

A suspect has been arrested and charged with killing a Charlotte man more than a month after a deadly shooting.

On Thursday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it had arrested 31-year-old Durell Sheridan for charges unrelated to the shooting earlier in the week on Tuesday. He was charged with the murder of 39-year-old Pierre McClain after an interview with detectives.

McClain was one of two people killed in seperate early-morning shootings on June 2, 2024. He was found shot and killed along Tom Hunter Road, near a light rail station in northeast Charlotte, around 2 a.m. that day.

The other shooting victim was 18-year-old Bellian Garcia, who was found dead around an hour later along Echo Glen Road. Both shootings did not appear to be related.

McClain’s family has been notified of Sheridan’s arrest.
