Autopsy report reveals new details about driver who died after plummeting into North Carolina gorge

The driver was later identified as Patricia Mahoney, 62.

Patricia Mahoney, 62, of Southern Pines, was identified as the victim.

According to an autopsy report, it was determined that Mahoney died from her injuries after falling over a 100-foot embankment.

The autopsy report stated she went into cardiac arrest and died at the hospital after she was rescued. 

Toxicology reports show Mahoney had antidepressants along with anxiety and seizure prevention medications present in her system, but they were at “appropriate levels.”
