Newlyweds Cameron Fox and Samantha Vogel had been married for just one month before the tragic shooting leaving family and friends heartbroken.
HIGH POINT, N.C. — A simple food delivery turned deadly after an argument broke out at an apartment in High Point.
The victim was tagging along with his wife during a food delivery when someone shot and killed him.
Just a month ago, Samantha Vogel stood beside Cameron Fox, promising to spend a lifetime together. Those dreams were shattered Monday night when Cameron’s life was cut short, tragically, by a bullet.
“He was a caring soul, he was my angel on earth and now he’s my angel in heaven,” Samantha said as she began to cry.
The pair was delivering food together like normal at a High Point apartment complex Monday night. But their lives quickly turned upside down when Samantha’s husband, Cameron Fox, was shot and killed.
“It’s cold. I’ve never in my life heard of somebody just killing somebody blankly and standing there and watching someone go through what I had to go through. Just so cold, so emotionless. That man is a monster,” Vogel said.
High Point police arrested Robert Bailey and charged him with second-degree murder. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between Bailey and Fox.
Samantha said the suspect tore their family apart.
“Blink of an eye, the worst possible thing that could ever happen to anybody. Unfolding in front of my eyes. And I have to lay there beside my husband. And try to stop the bleeding. And that point my whole focus was Cameron. I blankly remember. People around me. I was just trying to save my husband’s life. He had kids. He had a daughter,” Vogel said.
The pair started dating a few months ago, and Vogel said their love for each other grew quickly. They met through one of Vogel’s friends and tied the knot just two months after their first date.
She said Fox, who was a barber, was caring, hardworking, and protective. Now, she’s struggling after, she said, the light of her life was stolen from her.
“Cameron was the light of my life. Like, he was my saving grace, my best friend, my peace. My aggravation. He was everything. Like, he truly made me see life in a whole different way. There’s good people, and Cameron was one of them,” Vogel said.
“I don’t know how I’m so strong right now. I’m numb I’m just my heart hurts but I’m at peace because I know he’s at peace. And my his legacy will live on through me. I will forever represent Cameron Fox.”
