ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro police said a man was found dead inside of a business Monday morning.

Around 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to E. Dixie Drive in reference to an armed robbery. While officers were en route to the scene, they were informed that a man had been shot and the suspects left the scene.

Officers arrived at 64 Skillz when they found 39-year-old David Matthew Davis dead inside the building. Davis was an employee at the business, confirmed by officials.

Later on, Monday, the Asheboro Police Department announced that Davis was a Navy veteran and “a husband and father, working to provide for his family.”

Police said 64 Skillz will offer a “substantial cash reward” for information that leads to the arrest of any suspects involved in Davis’ murder.

This is an ongoing investigation.
