911 call gives new insight into convicted killer’s escape

911 calls detail what happened when Ramone Alston ran off from law enforcement.

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — 911 calls share the moments a convicted killer escaped from custody in Orange County.
  

A member of the transport team called 911 after Ramone Alston got away.

“I know that we were going to pull him out of the vehicle, he got his cuff on he can’t go that far. And the lady across the street she just walked up she seen him walk past while ago, he just took off running.”

Almost 20 agencies have spent three days looking for him.
                

The Orange County Sheriff said they do not suspect he is in the immediate area from where he escaped in Hillsborough.
               

The governor’s office added money to the reward, bringing the total to $50,000.
