$5,000 reward offered for information leading to missing Burlington man believed to be in danger

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Burlington Police Department announced Sunday that the reward for information leading to the location of missing 28-year-old Aamari Daeshawn Eubanks has risen to $5,000.

Eubanks was last seen on Dec. 4 driving a 2000 Toyota Avalon from the 100 block of Wilkins Road in Haw River west on US 70 toward Burlington. He was eventually reported missing to the Haw River Police Department.

Lieutenant Lori Catoe with the Burlington Police Department said that someone who lives on Sharpe Road called them on Dec. 5 saying they found a car matching the description of the one Eubanks was driving abandoned in the woods. 

Through their investigation, the Burlington Police Department learned the car Aamari was driving — which held some concerning evidence — belonged to his grandmother. 

The presence of blood led police to believe Aamari was assaulted and in danger. 

“We found some evidence in the vehicle that leads us to believe that there was some type of altercation that occurred in the vehicle,” Catoe said. “No weapons in the vehicle. There was blood evidence that we found … We’ve searched that entire area to make sure that there’s absolutely nothing that we’ve missed. We plan on doing more searches in the area once we can narrow down exactly the area that he traveled on the fourth to the fifth.” 

Burlington police said initially that they had no reason to believe Aamari was involved in any activities that would put his life in danger. 

“We have spoken with family. They are very concerned, as we are,” Catoe said. 

According to police, Eubanks is a Black male standing at 5-foot-7 and weighing around 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a bleach stain, black jogger pants and black and white Adidas tennis shoes.
