41-year-old drowns in Surf City

SURF CITY — A Hampstead man has passed away after emergency personnel attempted live-saving measures Saturday afternoon.

According to the Town of Surf City, 41-year-old Sean A. Davis was found unresponsive as two Surf City Fire Department Ocean Rescues swimmers retrieved him from the water. The incident took place at 2:46 p.m. at beach access number 10.

Upon reaching the shore with the victim, Surf City Fire Department executed CPR, along with advanced life-support measures, also attempted by Pender EMS and Fire. Davis did not survive. 

Surf City FD urges beachgoers to pay attention to surf conditions, via flags posted along the beach. National Weather Service of Wilmington has forewarned beachgoers through Monday of dangerous surf conditions and rip currents, due to Hurricane Ernesto passing over Bermuda on Saturday.
