PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Bundle up as you’re heading out, temperatures are in the 10s and low 20s to start the day. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day with highs reaching the upper 40s.

Sunshine continues to dominate into Friday with our morning temperatures gradually increasing, although still frigid. We’ll start Friday in the mid-20s with afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Rain chances return for the weekend with increasing chances through the morning hours Saturday. The chance for rain Saturday is 70% and as of right now, most of the rain looks to fall in the first half of the day. Temperatures start off in the low 30s Saturday morning and reach the upper 40s by the afternoon.

Scattered showers remain in the forecast on Sunday with morning temperatures in the mid-30s and afternoon highs in the mid-40s. The chance of rain on Sunday is 50%.

Following our wet weekend, arctic air will arrive into the start of next week. Monday morning’s low will be around 18 degrees with afternoon highs only reaching the upper 20s. The good news is the sun will be shining; the bad news is it won’t do much to warm us up. Plus, northwest winds will be between 5 to 15 mph which means it will also be breezy to start the week, making it feel even colder.

Partly cloudy skies Tuesday and Wednesday with a low chance for wintry precipitation. The chance right now is only 20% but it’s something the FOX8 weather team will be keeping a close eye on, especially over the weekend.  Temperatures will certainly be cold enough to support wintry weather if we can see the moisture. We’ll see lows around 13 degrees both mornings with highs in the mid to upper 20s.
