CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 19-year-old was seriously injured in a shooting in southeast Charlotte Wednesday night, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a business on East Independence Boulevard near East W.T. Harris Boulevard around 8:45 p.m. A police report states the suspect threatened someone before shooting into the business, hitting a 19-year-old woman. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
CMPD hasn’t announced any arrests or identified the suspect at this time.
A few hours later, CMPD responded to a reported shooting on Jonquil Street in southeast Charlotte for an accidental shooting. When officers arrived, a 17-year-old told them he was trying to take apart the gun when it accidentally fired and struck him in the knee. The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Anyone with information about the shooting on Independence Boulevard is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
