17-year-old arrested for second degree murder

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation from a stabbing that occurred Tuesday night in the Greenbrier neighborhood. 

According to the NHCSO, deputies responded to 812 Greenbriar Road around 8 p.m. in reference to a stabbing. Once on scene deputies located a 17-year-old male who was the victim of several knife wounds to the chest. Deputies also located the suspect a 17-year-old male and placed him in custody.

The victim was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center but was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The suspect has been charged with second degree murder and is in custody at the juvenile detention center.
