15-year-old expected to be OK after shooting, Monroe police say

MONROE, N.C. — A 15-year-old girl is recovering after she was shot in Monroe early Wednesday, police said. 

Monroe Police responded to a report of gunshots along Burke Street, near Creft Park and Hillcrest Cemetery, a few minutes before 2 a.m. While officers were on their way, they were told a 15-year-old showed up at a hospital after being shot multiple times. 

The victim was taken to a Charlotte-area hospital and is expected to recover, according to investigators. 

Monroe police haven’t identified any suspects in the case and no arrests have been made. It’s unclear what led up to the shooting.
