WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man is dead after he appeared to have been struck by a vehicle on Christmas Day, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
On Dec. 25 around 10:41 p.m., police responded to an unknown trouble complaint in the 5700 block of Stanleyville Road.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a dead man in the roadway. Police have identified the man as Dedrick Denorris Gaston, 49.
There were no involved vehicles located on the scene, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Police said the initial call was received from a passerby.
The Winston-Salem Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the crash.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates Gaston was walking on Stanleyville Road when he was struck by a vehicle.
